This speculation coincides with the automaker’s plans to update its core lineup, beginning with the Avante (CN8), which made its debut in June 2026 as the eighth-generation compact sedan. Globally, it is marketed as the Elantra, a title that has made it Hyundai’s top seller in North America and Europe.
The Avante shares design elements, the Pleos Connect infotainment system, and upgraded powertrains with the newly introduced NX5 Tucson, which launched in August 2026. Both models adopt Hyundai’s updated Art of Steel design language. Design continuity between the Avante and Elantra indicates the new sedan will emphasize refinement over drastic redesigns.
