Dublin Airport operator, daa, has received a blow with the news that the competition regulator has refused it permission to buy a large disused car park near the airport which it needs to relieve parking pressure.

The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) said it was blocking the sale of the former QuickPark facility due to concerns that the deal would lead to higher prices and lower service quality for consumers.

The news that the Del Vasto family will sell their business to a US giant has the Canadian automotive aftermarket talking.

On Monday, O’Reilly Automotive announced it had agreed with Groupe Del Vasto shareholders to buy all of the company’s shares and its affiliated entities

The move hasn’t surprised many in the Canadian auto care space.

The numbers are in, and as expected, the Japanese juggernaut managed to comfortably beat its German rival with a record-breaking 11,233,039 vehicles shipped last year.
