Mirror may have sparked auto repair shop fire

San Antonio – A Father’s Day fire at a near North Side auto repair shop may have been caused by a mirror, one of the shop’s owners says.

The fire at Car-Tec Automotive in the 2300 block of Blanco Road, at the corner of San Francisco, started just before 3 pm Sunday.

Gamaliel Flores, who co-owns the business with his brother Bernabe Flores, said the fire damage was concentrated in the back of the shop, where they did a lot of repairs, although there was also heat and smoke damage up in the front.

It all started when an automotive repair shop in Salem tried to take advantage of Kayla Stinson BA’25 (she/they) with an outrageous bill for an oil change. Let’s just say they picked the wrong customer to try to cheat: Stinson manages an automotive shop in his home town of Prescott, Arizona. Nick’s Auto Body Opens in Ohio

Nick’s Auto Body celebrated a grand opening at its newest location, its first shop in Mahoning County, OH. This automotive repair shop’s employees are all ASE certified, specializing in repairing cars after collisions.

In operation since 1960, it’s a direct repair facility already detailing cars in Pennsylvania at its New Castle and Clarion locations. Chief Operating Officer Marcus Cook said they hope to gain the respect of everyone in Mahoning County as they continue carrying on the family-owned business.

According to its website, the shop is a National Auto Body Congress member and recognized as an Axalta Certified Repair Facility.

Parking problems, home auto-repair accusations roil College Area neighborhood – NBC 7 San Diego

From a bird’s eye view, Ewing Street in the College Area looks like your typical San Diego neighborhood.

Mike Philyaw has lived in the College Area since 2013 and described it as a nice and quiet neighborhood. Although that changed about eight years ago when a new neighbor moved across the street, he said.

The Alliance of Automotive Service Providers of Minnesota (AASP-MN) is helping train the next generation of collision repairers through 22 newly-awarded scholarships.

The scholarships, totaling $20,000 will help cover the costs of tuition or tools for collision repair and automotive service students throughout the 2023-24 curricular year.

New restaurant planned for adjacent building

The triangular block in downtown Twisp, between Highway 20, South Glover Street and Fifth Avenue, is in flux. The automotive repair shop Quality Lube is for sale, and fast-casual dining is coming to the building south of the shop.

The current Quality Lube building was built in 2003, when owners Lina and Clint Estes moved the business from the adjacent building. They started the business in 1999.
