Brands like Toyota, Maruti Suzuki, Mahindra, Tata Motors, and Skoda are expected to come out with their respective products in April.
Like any industry, the month of April holds the key to many businesses including the auto industry. Besides financial results, OEMs take the opportunity to launch or introduce some new products. Something similar is slated to happen this coming April as well as several new models lined up for launch. Let us take a look at five cars expected to hit the Indian market in April this year.
Toyota Taisor
The first major car launch in the coming financial year will be Toyota’s Taisor. Although not officially confirmed, the Taisor is most likely to be a rebadged Maruti Suzuki Front wearing a Toyota logo. This will be the fourth Maruti-rebadged model to go on sale from Toyota after the Glanza (Baleno), the now-discontinued Urban Cruiser (Vitara Brezza), and Rumion (Ertiga).
The Taisor will share the same specs, and features as Fronx. The design is also expected to remain largely similar with subtle variations to distinguish itself from its Maruti cousin. Powering the Taisor will be a 1.2-litre K12C naturally aspirated petrol engine or a 1.0-litre Boosterjet turbocharged petrol engine. Transmission options will include a 5-speed manual as standard with the option of a 5-speed AMT and a 6-speed automatic for the NA and turbocharged units respectively.
Tata Altroz Racer
Tata showcased the Altroz Racer concept for the first time at the Auto Expo last year followed by a near-production prototype at the inaugural Bharat Mobility Show earlier this year. It will sit on top of the Altroz Racer and will boast of sportier exterior and interior styling, dynamics, and performance. Powering the Altroz Racer will be a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine which is likely to dish out 118 bhp and 170 Nm of peak torque. Upon launch, it will directly lock horns with Hyundai i20 N Line.
Mahindra XUV300 facelift
Mahindra is expected to launch the facelifted XUV300 in the first month of the coming financial year. The subcompact SUV has been tested on numerous occasions on Indian roads over the past few months. It will receive some notable exterior and interior styling changes along with additional features on board.
Alongside the two 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine options, the new XUV300 will continue to offer the reliable, and bullet-proof, 1.5-litre mHawk diesel engine that dishes out 115 bhp and 300 Nm of peak torque. Transmission options will include a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed AMT for all power sources.
Skoda Superb
Skoda will bring back the Superb to India in April this year as a fully-imported CBU model. The flagship sedan will return to India in its updated avatar after it was discontinued in 2022. Powering the India-spec luxury sedan will be a 2.0-litre TSI turbocharged petrol mill and a 2.0-litre TDi diesel engine. The latter delivers 147 bhp and will be mated to a 7-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic transmission as standard.
New gen Maruti Swift
Although not confirmed yet, Maruti is expected to launch the third generation Swift in India very soon. Test mules of the hatchback have been spied on several instances in recent months. After making its global debut at the Tokyo Mobility Show in November 2023, the hatchback has gone on sale in its home market and United Kingdom.
Besides a few subtle styling differences, the new-gen Swift is expected to boast quite a few new features. But more importantly, it will get a brand new 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder, Z-series petrol engine which will be paired with either a 5-speed manual or a CVT automatic transmission.
